Meet J.Mona
Born in New Orleans, and brought up in Los Angeles, Jessica Sonnenthal graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing from the University of Southern California. Soon after, she began her career in the Contemporary Art Scene as the Marketing Coordinator for MOCA, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles and then by helping with the LA Art Show, 2016. She’s now stepping out on her own for the first time with more than 25 years of experience as an artist and ready to communicate her own art to the world. This is the story of J.Mona.
Jessica's first introduction to art began at the age of 11, when her aunt, a fellow artist, gifted her with her first visit to an art class. While attending the class, she fell in love with art as a medium of expression. Initially drawing inspiration from Rembrandt and Renoir, she always knew she wanted to pay homage to the art of realism. With oil on canvas being her primary medium, Jessica began creating beautiful pieces of art, many of which have been sold worldwide.
You can see her process and inspiration in her paintings, which display a transformative series of work from childhood into adulthood. Her picturesque paintings are ones that can blend in or stand out in any environment to truly complete the space in which they occupy. Each painting is like a moment in time brought to life on canvas. You don’t need to see the photo to know that each painting has its own soul, its own song and its own story to tell.
